Are you full-time, qualified photographers?
Gary and Sue are both fully qualified, registered Master Photographers. Gary is also one of a unique group of qualified Craftsmen of the Society of Wedding & Portrait Photographers.

Why do you suggest that we meet for a pre wedding shoot and chat?
The pre wedding shoot is not only an opportunity for you experience being in front of the camera, but also to help build up the relationship with Gary and Sue to enable them to get really great shots of you on your wedding day. It is also the chance to let Gary and Sue know any special groups you or your parents might like in your final album.

Where do you take portraits?
Our home-based studio can provide a lovely outdoor backdrop of greenery or we can use a painted background depending on the portrait style preferred. Because of the size of our outdoor area, we are limited to one to six people. Larger groups must be taken on location. We can suggest many beautiful locations around Santa Barbara that are suitable at various times of day.One suggestion is to view your family’s images immediately upon posting them, ordering your portraits and then request that we remove your family’s images. You could also call and have your family’s images removed from the event, and schedule a private viewing at our offices. If you are uncomfortable, with our online proofing and purchasing, the best route for your family would be to find a local photographer and schedule a private sitting. You pay for any additional portraits you order at the time of photography. Weaccept cash, check, VISA, MasterCard, Discover (U.S. only) or American Express (U.S.

Why does it take two qualified photographers to capture our day?
Due to today’s requirements for more ‘relaxed informal photography’ in the time allowed, Gary and Sue work hard and fast so that you can enjoy the day more – and get those great images from two perspectives of the wedding.

What times are available for my event?
You can scroll through the list (the events are in date order) and find your event or you can use the search boxes at the top of the page to locate your event. In the “Location” box in the upper left hand corner enter the name of the event you wish to attend (note the event does not have to be completely spelled out for the search engine to find the event, example; “mof” is short for moffett. These days everyone has a camera, and I know how much fun photography is.

Gaurantee InfoWhat kind of gaurantee do you offer on your portraits?
If you are not happy with your portraits we will reprint them for you at no charge, to correct any printing problems. If you are not happy for any other reason we will refund 100% of the purchase price (we do not refund shipping). Just return your portraits to us within 30 days of reciept, with a note stating problem, and we will refund your account within 7 business days.I photograph in a candid manner. Each session, I try to capture something that is truly unique, natural looking. I try my best to keep the mood light and allow the session to unfold naturally. I try to create an environment where everyone feels comfortable to let their true spirit shine through. Sessions are truly about you, your child, and your family and creating images you will treasure for all time.Especially with the weather in Houston, it is always unpredictable! We reschedule shoots as needed. And no, we don’t charge to reschedule due to weather.

Choosing The Best Studio For Family Photography

When should I order my portraits?
Take your time in selecting favorite portraits with family and friends.  Call your local Prestige Portraits if you have questions about ordering. Remember, after we receive your order, your finished portraits will arrive three – five weeks later. Not every professional photographer can do every type of photography. A photographer who takes family portraits and weddings is not necessarily the one to shoot a picture of your Board of Directors.

I want more than one pet in my portrait, is this ok?
Yes, that’s fine. I can do group portraits of your animal family. Prices for additional subjects are dependant on the size of your portrait. See the Pricing page for more details. A 20″ x 24″ portrait is a suitable size for a group portrait of up to 4 medium / large size dogs. If you have a very large group, please contact me for a personal quote.Sadie’s makes your picture files available to you on CD, and is a wonderful way to bring your portraits home to email to your friends and family members. You can also create your own screen savers. We’re known for our great outdoor portraits. We recommend casual clothing and “earth tone” clothing for outdoor settings. Cloudy days are actually ideal for outdoor portraits.

How soon after the wedding can the bride and groom expect to see the initial images?
In most cases, the bride and groom can expect to see their initial images within 2 weeks following the wedding. This, too, largely depends upon your child. A typical photo session lasts between 45 to 75 minutes. During this time I continuously photograph your child being a child or having quality interaction with mom, dad, siblings, friends or pets.Yes, you can! Please use the I NEED possibility but point us to a specific item from our catalog you need to be custom made for you.

What sort of photography work will you send my way?
Within our own Photography business, we generally shoot work such as Commercial, Advertising, Catalogues, Product, Corporate, Industrial and Editorial types of jobs. So generally when we get enquiries for this type of work, we shoot it ourselves, time permitting. Subsequently, our Subscribers will receive very little to none of this type of photography unless we are really seriously over-run with too much work. The following is a description of a typical wedding day. Please note that all of these details will be scheduled weeks before your wedding day. Your principle photographer will arrive at a pre-discussed location two hours before the wedding to photograph the bride getting ready and to take family portraits. Before the ceremony, your principal photographer will leave the bride to take candid photos of the groom and his family.

Q – How should we plan for the group and formal portrait photos?
Set aside 1 to 1.5 hours of time at some point during the day for larger group photos and couple portraits. Keep in mind that a huge variety of family groupings can steal time away from your couple portrait time. Your wedding day will be very busy, and often the schedules get pushed. A few times in the past, I’ve had couples with no time left for their own portraits.Yes, I would love to set up a consultation with you and show you a couple of full current weddings I have photographed.

How many clothing changes can I do?
As many as the size of the portrait session you selected can accommodate. We like two to four changes for a great variety in your portraits. Most of our wedding packages include digital image files as part of the delivery to the bride and groom.

The Art of Family Portrait Photography

Tuesday, November 4th, 2008

Family portrait photography has evolved into more than just photographs of your family.  Many modern photographers view portraits as an artistic expression. The portrait can show the bond shared by the family, how they feel, and represent who they are. Portraits aren’t just about smiling and staring into the camera. Family portraits don’t have to be ordinary and traditional; they can be unique and creative. Each family is different and artistic family portrait photography can express individuality and showcase each family’s distinctive qualities and relationships. When the family members, and everyone else for that matter, look at the portrait, it has the power to invoke feeling and emotions much like fine art does. Artistic family portraits can tell a story and, with one solitary image, induce profound, emotional reactions.

What Makes Artistic Family Portrait Photography Different

Traditionally, family portraits were taken with everyone standing or sitting in a uniform group, all looking straight at the camera. Many artistic photographers have changed all that. A couple may stare lovingly into each others eyes. Portraits of a family with a new baby may have all members looking at the baby. Dramatic effect can be accomplished by having the family members look in different directions and at different angles. Conventional family portrait photography featured the family grouped in the center of the frame but the artistic appearance of a family off-centered or asymmetrically arranged can add special dimension or depth to the image.

Different angles can also introduce a new element to the portrait. Rather than the typical straight on shot, the photograph can be taken from an elevated position. The photograph could be shot from below, looking up at the family, or any number of other angles. These alterations in perspective can completely change the whole look and feel of the image. Colors can dramatically affect the appearance of the image as well. For instance, dramatic emphasis can be added to a photo with a nude newborn when all other members wear black, focusing the eye’s attention on the baby. Black and white or sepia colored portraits often stand out and appear more elegant.

Art offers limitless possibilities for the enhancement of family portrait photography. If you contact the studio of an artistic photographer, they will have plenty of creative portrait photography tips and tricks that can add an imaginative and unique element to your family’s portraits. Your portrait should exhibit your family’s individuality and the right photographer will be able to transform your portrait into a true work of art.
