Taking Photos at a Wedding

Wednesday, July 15th, 2009

There’s nothing worse than terrible shots or no shots of one of the most momentous events in a person’s life. A wedding may be made in heaven but disaster is in the details. Skip some important points and you can wish you were in the trashcan with the rubber chicken and leathery lettuce.

Here are some tips to help you negotiate this photographic minefield.

Hire a professional.
No? Don’t want to do that? You think Uncle George can do it fine on the cheap? Save a few bucks and spread the joy around? Then read on, reckless fool…

Be prepared.
Emotionally, spiritually, intellectually and photographically. You will need more than just a strong heart and nerves of steel. Make sure you have a separate flash unit, spare batteries, memory sticks, zoom/wide angle lens and a tripod. You’ll also need a decent photo editing program to produce the finished product in an acceptable form.

Have an assistant or a helper.
You should have lots of stuff to carry around, and you need someone who will watch your gear when you’re busy. Have someone to help you. It’s also good to have someone relatively sane to talk to.

ALWAYS shoot for the bride.
Men aren’t interested in photos of themselves. Well, that’s a generality. 99.9% of men don’t care. Usually the only time a man looks at a wedding picture under his own volition is just after the divorce with a drink in the other hand.

Get a list of wanted shots.
Don’t go into this blind. Find out what shots the happy couple expect and try to oblige. Weddings generally go through 4 stages: dressing, the ceremony itself, post ceremony (time for less formal shots with the newlyweds), finally the reception covering groups, cake cutting etc. Take your lead from the bride not the juiced up guests at the reception.

Shoot a lot.
This is good advice for any photography. At a wedding you’re dealing with human nature at its most confused. Who can really tell what shots will be the big sellers? Just cover everything (even the speeches) and shoot everything three times and be safe.

Get the groups.
Groups are important but watch out here because semi-inebriated guests will want to be photographed with pot-plants, the foxy waitress, each other, maybe the bride and groom, and towards the end of the evening fascinating cloud formations. Get from the bride who should be in what group. Stay with her.

Get the proofs to the bride as fast as you can.
Forget this just being good service, it’s also smart business. Happiness and the vows of matrimony can be fleeting. Get your wedding photo bill in before the first fight if possible. Definitely before the divorce.

Be a professional. Weddings can be scary things.
They’re all about love, sex, eating and drinking. Passions and confusions can be rampant. Get your shots first and party later if anyone is left to party with. If you find yourself at the end alone with your camera, at least you can console yourself that you completed your mission.

Do your own quality control before you submit the proofs.
Your reputation can be destroyed by a handful of misaimed shots of the bride or her friends. People often remember that one shot where the matron of honor looked as if she was zonked when it was just an untimely blink. If it sucks delete it. Better safe than sorry.

Wedding Day Photographer Planning

Tuesday, July 14th, 2009

When most brides and grooms make wedding day plans, they take certain things into consideration. They think about vacation times when trying to coordinate. Or they plan the day according to the best time for family to come into town.  Or they plan it based upon maybe available venues, like the church or the restaurant.

But one of the biggest things they fail to plan for on the wedding day is the photographer. Don’t think this is something small.  And I am not just saying it because I am a wedding photographer

No planning the wedding day with the wedding photographer in mind could mean all the difference in the world. Especially when you think about the fact the photos are going to be the thing that captures that day for a lifetime.

So what are the key factors to consider when planning with the photographer in mind. The date and time.

Let’s start with the time.  How many people do you think would want their photographer to rush taking the photos? I am pretty confident most couples will not agree to that.

Without even considering your photographer, a majority of the times most couples do just that. The couple or family basically rush the photographer to try and take all the pictures.

How so you ask? Well let’s say, the couple makes the ceremony between 1-2 pm. With the reception beginning at 2:30. How many shots can a photographer make when he only has a half hour to work with?  Not many.

Worse yet, what if he does get all the shots? Do you think they are going to take good quality shots when they are rushed?  Of course not.

So plan the wedding times and the receptions accordingly making sure there is ample time to take photos.

The second factor to consider when planning is to check your photographer’s availability.

Most probably don’t realize this, but most good photographers will be booked months in advance. Let’s say you are dealing with a large photography company, they probably have a few photographers.

Well making wedding plans without thinking about the availability of the photographer could be a nightmare. Because when you reserve that special day, without making sure your photographer is available, come wedding day you might get a shock when you find somebody totally different.

This scenario happens when you are dealing with a big company. You may not even realize that they have a staff of photographers and if the photographer you liked is booked, unless you ask, they might not tell you.  When your wedding day comes, they might just outsource their work or a second rate photographer might show up.

Be prepared that you don’t let something like this happen.Making plans for your wedding day is special. Be sure that you also plan it thinking about your wedding photographer.

How to Choose a Good Wedding Photographer

Saturday, June 13th, 2009

A wedding is one of the most important events that will occur in a person’s life. Many hours goes into a lot of the planning for the wedding. Probably all of the list of things to do in wedding planning are frustrating, stressful, and time consuming. That’s why it is crucial that your homework is done when trying to find good people for all the jobs.  One of the most important jobs is that of the photographer. From my experience as a San Diego wedding photographer I’ll show you it can be a few simple steps away.

Finding a wedding photographer is a big job. There are a few important factors to think about when you make this important decision. The photographs that you get from your wedding day will be some of the most memorable moments that you. The photos will be all over your walls for the rest of yourlife. One of the important factors when trying to find a photographer is price. Many photographers will charge a price for a certain length of time at the wedding. It is important to know up front what all is included with that
price. When it comes to finding a wedding photographer, the biggest upside to pricing is there is a lot of competition. Don’t forget, a lot of photographers will negotiate their price to fit what you need.

Another thing to take into account when deciding is how much experience does this person have. Is this their first wedding or their hundredth? Their price might be an indication of how many years they have been in business as well. Just because someone is experienced, doesn’t always translate into being a better photographer. A lot times people that are just starting out and are trying to build a reputation for themselves will turn out to be great. The advantage of a person like that and going with them is you know they are going to give it their best. In your search for a wedding photographer, you are going to find different levels of experience between them. Doing an interview with a photographer can give you a good sense of what they will be like to work with.

A final thing for you to take into account when trying to decide is the personality the photographer has. Are they likely going to try call all the shots and decide on all your poses? Or will they let the bride and groom make some of the decisions themselves? Another thing to think about is whether or not you want to be the one to make the important decisions on the photos. The bride and groom might have enough to worry about that day as it is. Take all of these factors into consideration when you choose your photographer. If you do, you are going to have a lot of wonderful pictures to cherish for the rest of your lives.  Take it from me, your experienced San Diego photographer.

Help for Hiring a Quality Maternity Photographer

Tuesday, June 2nd, 2009

A hundred years ago when a woman was pregnant, it was called a confinement. Supposedly it was improper to appear pregnant in public. Yet birth and girth are a part of life and nothing to be ashamed of. Indeed, many future mothers are opting to record the special time with pictures. Photographers are even specializing in such pictures. But whether or not you have such pictures done professionally, these suggestions will still be helpful.

First, timing is everything. If you are going to hire a professional photographer to do it right, then you will probably want to schedule the appointment for about the 30th week. At that time, the belly is rounded and protruding enough to highlight the unique event.

Second, try some variety. If it is warm weather, try some outside as well as inside shots. Indoor shots are best without a flash. The shadowing highlights the subject, the belly! If indoor lighting is insufficient, then stand by a window or add artificial lighting that accents the subject.

Include your husband and other children in some shots. After all, older siblings are part of the family. It also records their size when junior was about to be born. They could all touch Mom’s abdomen or stand around with her in the middle. If you hire a photographer, be sure they are good at working with children to help them be serious but not too serious.

If you are going to leave your abdomen covered, wear tight clothing. Get out the tank tops or shirts that fit six months before. These will highlight the changes that have taken place during these thirty weeks. Some woman want their bare belly showing in the picture. This can be done discreetly with proper clothing. Don’t wear something that would make you hide the picture after the birth.

When planning the picture, look around to make sure that your background is what you want remembered. If you have a pile of papers in the background, you may not want junior’s protrusion to be remembered that way. Instead, move to a different location or put up a backdrop like a sheet.

Also look ahead. Probably the person who will cherish this picture the most in years to come is the one not yet born. He or she will ponder life in the womb prior to birth and perhaps even how much his mother went through to bring him into the world. Therefore, plan the picture with him or her in mind.

The most important preplanning is to choose a good photographer wisely. You could record this picture yourself but since this is such a rare occurrence – to be in the thirtieth week of pregnancy – you will probably want the occasion recorded professionally. Some photographers specialize in maternity photography and they will probably be best prepared with equipment and ideas to make it memorable. Ask others, and make an appointment to chat with the establishment before making a decision. Having a good rapport with them is second only to their skill at recording the event in a way that will capture its memory as you want.

Tips from a San Diego Wedding Photographer

Monday, June 1st, 2009

When you are asked to be the one to take photos of the wedding is a huge responsibility. If you are doing it as a favor, or if you are doing it as your profession, following these 5 tips will help you do the job right.

This tips are coming from first hand experience as a San Diego wedding photographer.  So whether you are seasoned pro, or a rank amateur, if you follow these tips, you will feel comfortable and not have to second guess yourself.  You will be fully prepared for whatever may come.

Our first tip is pretty simple and that is to have the couple and their families make a list for you of shots they want to take. When you know the day will be hectic and chaotic, doing this will help you get the family and group shots later on in the day more smoothly. You will love how you can just go through your list and get all the shots you want without leaving anything out.

The second tip on our list is to not delete any shots.  In this day and age of digital cameras, most photographers use them.Great as they are, they might tempt you to delete a shot they may like that you don’t since it is so easy to do.Don’t bother even peeking at the previews.  What makes a great shot in your mind could differ widely that what makes a great shot in the couples minds. You know what, they might like all those un “professional” shots you take.

For the the third tip, make sure you get candid shots during and after the wedding.A good wedding photographer doesn’t look to just take your typical shots, like group shots, or wedding shots or your standard newly married shots.  But they will also try and capture the emotions of the day through the shots of all the people that were there.  And that includes some of the things that could go wrong, like a flower girl not making it all the way to the front, or the ring bearer dropping the rings.  Every shot counts.

The fourth tip is which is often overlooked is to make sure you have several cameras and other equipment as backup.  Do you even want to imagine having a camera stop working halfway through the day.  Plan for anything that could go wrong.  Being prepared will help you avoid that uncomfortable moment of not having a working camera to capture the rest of the day.

Lastly, make sure to practice for your lighting. There can be a huge difference between the lighting inside the wedding and outside, so make sure to practice for all the different possible conditions. Think about seeing if you can go to the locations of the big day and look for the best spots to take pictures as well as study the lighting needs.

Following these 5 great tips will help you greatly on that special day.  It will prepare you for whatever might go wrong, it will prepare you for capturing what goes right, and it will prepare you to help contribute to this wonderful day by being the best photographer you can be.  Take it from my years of experience as a San Diego photographer.

Not just any old wedding images but creativity

Not just a snap but a work of art

When you are hired to be the main photographer for a portrait event it is quite an honor. For a professional photographer, we can sometimes just see it as another “gig”. But it pays to look at the event through the eyes of the people attending, the parents, the siblings, the groom and above all the bride. For the bride especially, there is nothing routine about this day. Everything is personal and getting the best possible photos of this important day could not be more personal and important to her and her family and her groom as well.

So, if you are deciding to expand your horizons into or setting out on building your photography business to include wedding photography, you should plan to approach this task much differently than any other form of photography. You are doing a lot more than taking a few snapshots of an event. You are as much an integral part of the ceremony and the significance of that day for this bride and this groom as the minister or perhaps even many of the wedding guests.

So what can you do to make sure the wedding photographs you create capture not only the events of this day but the emotions and the spiritual importance of it as well? The key is to know the hearts and minds of the people who are involved in the event. That means, get involved early and be involved often.

For most weddings, the planning process starts very soon. If you get hired to be the wedding photographer, it is not too early to meet the that early also. To be a skilled wedding photographer, you should also have a bit of the investigative journalist, the amateur psychologist and the psychic in you as well.

Your photographs will capture not only the images of the event but also the souls of the attendees. So get to know each of the key players individually. This certainly includes the bride and groom but a similar level of familiarity is appropriate for the wedding party, the parents of the bride and groom and their best friends too.

There are some subtle ways you can learn the hearts of these people so you can plan to get photographs that will be ones the each person will say, “I am saving that one forever.” Here are some suggestions…

. Get to meet the people in charge of the wedding details. But more than that, find out how the bride and significant decisions makers view colors. Watch how they dress and show them examples of wedding photographs and listen to their reactions. You can plan the how to stage your pictures accordingly.

. Every bride has that perfect romantic setting in their heart. If you can discover that hidden treasure, you may be able to frame a special wedding photo just to fit that dream. Perhaps she there is a public gardens in the city that has a fountain that she has loved since she was a child. If so you can make arrangements to have the wedding party meet out there when the lighting is just right in full dress and get some wedding photos that will be in her heart forever.

. Don’t forget the groom. Maybe he would love to have a fun photo showing him and the bride on his Harley. Or if he is a big sports fan, getting a photo dressed out in team regalia at some other time than the wedding can be a fun addition to the portfolio. And it will mean a lot to him too.

Knowing the people, their personalities and what makes them tick makes you a better photographer. Don’t miss the opportunity to meet with the bride and groom at every stage of planning. The key players will not only not resent your presence but they will see that you have the same commitment to making this day as special as it can be. And they will love the outcome and you will remain as much a part of this big day as the flowers and the chapel itself.

Top Practices to Help You Hire a Good Wedding Photographer

Saturday, May 9th, 2009

For most events in our lives, a cheap camera is sufficient to record what is important for posterity. But some things like weddings are, hopefully, once in a lifetime, and worth paying more to have it photographed right. So from the myriad of choices how should one go about selecting which photographer to hire? Here are seven principles that will aid in that choice.

1. Availability. If you are wealthy, you may be able to hire the best New York photographer to capture your California wedding. However, most people will want to hire someone more locally, someone whose transportation costs will be more reasonable. For example, a couple in Virginia would choose someone specializing in Virginia Beach wedding photography. Also, since photographers are especially busy on Saturdays, will he/she be available on your big day?

2. Skill. Photographing a wedding is much more than just setting up various shots and clicking. It will involve good equipment, good lighting, and expert skill. Of course the pictures will probably be digital. What pixel range will they use for the pictures? Generally the more pixels, the better the resolution but also the larger the file size. Then find out what the company’s reputation is? What do others say about their skill in taking wedding pictures? Are samples from other weddings available?

3. Personality. What would it be like to work with them? Are they pushy, trying to get you to choose their most expensive package, or do they present the options and let you decide? Would they tend to take over or fit in? How are they in working with children?

4. Price. The average cost of a wedding in the U.S. now is over $20,000. Though you don’t want to blow your budget on pictures, you do want the quality of a professional. What is your maximum budget for pictures? Do they have options within this amount that include all you have in mind?

5. Service. How quickly are the pictures available? Some will even display the wedding pictures during the reception. That is a nice touch. How quickly can prints be made? How available will they be to others on the web or on CD, and how soon?

6. Options. A wide variety of options should be available. For example, if you so desire, is the photographer available during the rehearsal? Are they willing and available when you want the main photographic event to take place? Are they OK letting relatives take their own pictures while they are setting up shots? What creative suggestions do they offer? Can others print pictures off their website?

7. Integrity. What is their reputation about keeping their promises and delivering what they say? Will they be in place when needed and stay as long as you expect? Will all the parts of the package you chose be delivered as you expect?

A wedding is too important to rely on an amateur to do an adequate job. Consider these points as you plan your special day and, chances are, you won’t be disappointed with the result. Getting The Best Wedding Photography For Your Special Day

Thursday, December 18th, 2008

Wedding photography is a very important part of your wedding day.  The photographs provide a lasting reminder of your special day, documenting the day that you and your mate became legally joined as man and wife.  Choosing the best wedding photographer for your wedding day will take some special consideration, but the choice is very important if you want great photographs of your wedding and reception.

Experience

When choosing a company to do your wedding photography, it is very important that they have experience in wedding photography and have all of the equipment that will be needed to create the photographs that you desire.  Before deciding which company should do your wedding photography, it is very important to view some photographs that the company has taken for other weddings to judge whether the styles that they practice is something that you would want for your wedding photographs.  If the company is unable or unwilling to share some of their photographs with you, that is a warning sign that you may want to choose a different photography studio.

Although an inexperienced photographer may be less expensive to hire, if they do not do a good job of taking the photographs then there is no way to do the photographs over.  Your wedding only occurs for one day during your life and you do not want anything affecting the pictures that are detailing that one special day.  Also, if an inexperienced photographer does a bad job on your wedding day, it may be more difficult to get your money back or receive restitution than if you had dealt with a professional wedding photography studio.

Reputation

Getting the best wedding photography for your wedding day will often be accomplished by choosing the photography studio with the best reputation in your area.  If you know of other couples that have recently gotten married, ask them which studio did their wedding photography and what they think of the services that they received.  By asking people that have recently undergone the experience of hiring a photography studio to document their wedding, you will find out which studios did an excellent job and which studios turned a dream day into a nightmare.

Price

The last thing that you should consider when choosing a wedding photography studio to document your wedding day are the prices of the studios that you are considering.  Many photography studios will offer different photograph packages to appeal to a wide range of consumers so that everyone that contacts their studio will be able to find a package that is within their price range.  Compare the prices of a few different photography studios for similar packages to find the best deal on your wedding photography.

Wedding Photography – One Of The Most Important Decisions For Your Wedding

Saturday, December 13th, 2008

A wedding involves many decisions. You need to decide on a date, who to invite, where to have the reception, the dress, the rings, and the wedding photography. Of all those decisions, the photography is probably the most important aspect of your wedding. More choices wait when you start to look for affordable wedding photography, too. Budget is at the top of the list of considerations, followed closely by what style of photos you and your spouse to be would like to have.

Engaged couples have more options now than ever before regarding styles of wedding photography. Photojournalistic wedding photography is a highly popular choice for today’s weddings, offering a much less stilted wedding album than the old formally posed shots. Black and white wedding photography is also very popular, adding an old-time romance to your wedding photos.

Contemporary wedding photography allows couples to customize their wedding photographs freely to match the feel of the wedding ceremony. The traditional posed wedding portrait is quite appropriate to the old-fashioned formal wedding. However, this is only one of a myriad of wedding styles from which couples now may choose. From jumping out of an airplane or exchanging vows on a roller coaster to highly themed custom ceremonies, weddings in general are much less standardized. It is only fitting that wedding photography should also change with the times.

Many couples feel that they won’t be able to get both affordable wedding photography and the style they want in an cost-conscious package. Wedding photography professionals are more aware of the financial dilemma than you might think. They want to please their customers, and only those photographers who offer the best packages at an affordable price can make their studio a success to rise above the rest of the competition.

One of the first decisions that couples must make regarding wedding photography is whether to go with traditional film photography or the newer and increasingly popular digital wedding photography. Both styles have distinct pros and cons. If your wedding will be of a more traditional style, you may wish to follow tradition and select film photography. Film also provides a softer feel for certain styles of photography. The major disadvantage to film is the inability to preview the photographs immediately. While any professional photographer will be able to take excellent photos without the immediate feedback, couples whose wedding photography includes difficult action shots may feel more secure knowing that the photographer is able to preview and re-shoot photos as necessary.

Digital photography is the wave of the future. More and more photographers are starting to turn to digital photography as their preferred medium. Digital photography allows the photographer the freedom to experiment with tricky shots, as he or she will know immediately whether the shot was a success. It also allows the photographer to snap virtually limitless numbers of photos rather than being tied to a certain number of rolls for budgetary purposes.

There are many decisions to make when selecting your wedding photography. No longer is it simply a matter of choosing a photographer and leaving the decisions in the hands of the expert. Now couples are designing their own wedding photography as part of the full package of wedding customization. Try to research local photographers to find one whose style meshes with your own and then work together to create wedding photographs that truly make you happy.

Planning a wedding can be a very daunting task. What with time constraints as well as budget concerns, there are some couples choose to give some of the more crucial aspects completely out of their wedding completely. Photography should not be one of them. In this article, we will handle several primary matters on wedding photography that all couples should recognise when planning their grand day.

How far in advance should I book a photographer for my wedding?

Many photographers recommend booking a photographer right when you get engaged, or at least until you know when the wedding date is. It is advised that the engaged couple book at least 8-12 months in up front since some studios book wedding dates quickly. Weddings are more numerous from months of May all the way to October when the weather is most favorable. If you select to hold your wedding during this period of time, the photographer you pick will probably require a non-refundable deposit or retainer fee to hold your wedding date. This makes certain that you will have this studio or photographer on your desired date, as well as ensuring a job for your photographer. The quicker you book your photographer, then it is more likely that you will be able to work with your first choice.

When contracting a professional what are some of the advantages?

The essential benefit to hiring a professional wedding photographer is experience. The majority of wedding photographers have extensive experience working with numerous different people and difficult personalities.  They have confronted atrocious weather conditions, and have run across various technical problems. Since they are specialized in photography, they are well outfitted to handle various sizes of the weddings or for the different demands for photos. Unlike a friend or relative of the couple, a professional photographer’s essential goal is catching candid moments on film. Acknowledging they are counted on on delivering quality photos that will be loved for years to come, they are less likely to be carried away by aspects of the ceremony. With an event that allows no second chances, hiring a professional is a good investment that will help keep your memories of your special day around for years.

What is the best way to pick a good photographer for my wedding needs?

Firstly, get some recommendations from people you know about assorted photographers they have used in the past. relatives as well as friends who have had beneficial experiences with the photographers or studios that they have used usually should be more than enthusiastic to share this information with you. After going over websites and online portfolios, get a hold of each individual studio or particular photographer that you are interested in. Meet at their studio and examine different samples of their work personally, preferably with each individual of the engaged couple. Ask the photographer to see pictures from assorted weddings, and if possible a full-scale wedding. Doing it this way allows for complete evaluation of the various styles as well as the formats of photography, or even aesthetic impressions that each individual photographer can provide for you. Ask yourself if they share your artistic vision while looking through their portfolio. Are you in agreement with the various styles that they use? Is the quality to your liking? Likewise, observe how well you communicate and interact  with each photographer. Besides family and friends, your photographer is the one individual you will be interacting with the most. Being comfortable enough to interact with them while your wedding will lessen the tension of an a day which is already hectic. Once you have opted for a photographer whose work you are happy with, and whose demeanor is compatible with your own, you can then go over price ranges.

How much should I expect to pay when hiring a professional photographer?

You should expect photography by itself to be close to 5% to 10% of your whole budget. That could be anywhere from $900 to $2,000, and even up to $10,000. This is all dependent on various factors for instance advertising, transportation, education, and insurance. Quotes on price include the cost of equipment such as film as well as cameras. Top-notch professional cameras can cost in the thousands. While producing black and white film is a lot more pricey than developing color prints due to a long handcrafted process. Other things that couples must take account into their budget for photography include the number of hours photographers devote while at your wedding, including additional photographers, any additional prints, and custom albums. Additionally, anticipate to pay more for a professional that is in high demand.

Do I get to keep the negatives from my wedding?

Legally, the right of first publications to photos that are taken on your wedding day are the property of the photographer when they are created. It is illegal to replicate or procreate copyrighted material while not having the sanction from the owner of the right of first publication. Numerous photographers select to keep the proofs or negatives because they want to maintain their control of, as well as protect the photos that they have taken. This give the ability of photographers to charge extra if additional prints are requested. All The Same many wedding photographers do not consider selling photographs, and are more than prepared to hand over any negatives. Each photo studio will have contrasting policies regarding who retains the rights to the negatives as well as the proofs. Some studios also like to hold negatives for people just in case the particular negatives have been damaged or lost.

Wedding Photography in The United States – Which Direction Is It Heading Throughout the Country

Tuesday, December 2nd, 2008

Wedding photography in every market is constantly in a state of flux and change. Both people and society evolve constantly, causing evolution in every part of our daily lives. Weddings have become highly personalized affairs with couples competing to set their even apart from the ones that have come before. Wedding photography in general must evolve to stay relevant and in line with the other elements in these unusual weddings. Presented here is a look at the latest trends in wedding photography in certain key markets around the country.

The main trend in California wedding photography is photojournalism. Photojournalistic wedding photography allows the wedding day to unfold naturally. Rather than playing an active role in posing shots, the wedding photographer captures events as they happen. This style of photography results in more candid and natural looking wedding photographs. The major drawback to this style is that an inexperienced photojournalist may miss certain shots or fail to capture the shots well in the ambient light. If you choose to go with photojournalistic wedding photography, be certain that your photographer is experienced in this style.

The typical Seattle wedding photographer will blend the new trend of wedding photojournalism with a more timeless traditional style. The Seattle trend seems to be creating a wedding album that highlights the best of all worlds, thus offering the most complete account of your wedding day.

Florida wedding photography has begun to move in the direction of candid photography, which is very similar to photojournalistic wedding photography. The main difference between the candid and photojournalistic styles is that in wedding photojournalism, the shots combine to create a dramatic storyline. Candid photography is more laid back in style, reflecting the general feel of a Florida wedding.

The trend in Toronto wedding photography appears to be “creative candid” photography. This style is a sort of offshoot of both the laid back candid photography popular in Florida and the dramatic photojournalism of the California market. Rather than simply sitting passively and letting the events unfold, the creative candid photographer works to set up good candid shots, but without the posing required by the timeless style.

In every market, the overall trend seems to be away from the stiffly posed shots of wedding photography in the so-called timeless style. This style is still readily available to customers who desire it, but the popularity of this once de rigueur style of wedding photography is waning. More and more, couples are seeking out a more relaxed and dynamic form of wedding photography.

The main thing to keep in mind is that your wedding album is a reflection of you, the couple. If the style of your wedding is traditional, then the wedding photography in your album should reflect that. Candid shots might not work well for a formal wedding, but might be better for a wedding on a beach or any other outdoor setting. If you like the look and feel of Florida wedding photography (and your budget can afford it), find a photographer from that area to do your pictures. There is no reason why you have to limit yourself to a local photographer, if none of them fit your needs.

Planning a wedding can be a very daunting task. What with time constraints as well as budget concerns, some couples prefer to give some of the more all important aspects completely out of their wedding totally. One of those aspects should not be Photography. In this article, we will cover several rudimentary matters on wedding photography that every couple ought to recognise while preparing for their special day.

When I book a photographer how soon in advance should I do this?

Numerous photographers recommend reserving a photographer right when you get engaged, or at least until you know when the wedding date is.
